The Center for Public Health and Health Policy (CPHHP) was established in 2004 as a cross-university center and signature program to advance public health research, policy, and practice. Today, it is home to numerous public health projects and plays a critical role in several state and national initiatives to promote healthy communities.  Core research areas include developing technologies and methods to improve primary care delivery and health data access, as well as community-based survey data and needs assessment, program evaluation, and behavioral research methods to address serious health concerns such as childhood obesity and suicide prevention.

CPHHP also maintains strong community partnerships and is engaged in the delivery and evaluation of public health programs.  Current partners are listed to the right.

CPHHP is committed to service-learning experiential enrichment programs for graduate, undergraduate and high school students.  The CT Area Health Education Centers' (HRSA funding) key programs include Migrant Farm Worker Clinics, Urban Service Track, and the Biomedical Engineering Program.   The Husky Nutrition Programs have been continuously funded since 1994 by CT DSS/USDA SNAP-Ed and provide nutrition outreach education delivered in low-income communities.
