Certificate Program in Core Public Health Competencies

Through a unique partnership between the UCONN Master of Public Health program and the Connecticut Department of Public Health, individuals who possess a bachelor's degree can enhance their training through courses offered by the Master of Public Health program. Students may attend evening classes taking one course (or more) per semester and completing the program within six semesters following date of admission. Classes are held at the UConn Health Center (Farmington) and the Connecticut Department of Public Health (Hartford).

A certificate of recognition for Study of Core Public Health Competencies signed by the Commissioner of Public Health is awarded to individuals upon successful completion (grade B or better) of five of the following six courses:

  • Introduction to Epidemiology and Biostatistics I (Required)
  • Introduction to Epidemiology and Biostatistics II (Required)
  • Health Administration
  • Environmental Health
  • Social and Behavioral Foundations of Public Health
  • Law and Public Health
