Erin K. Havens MPA, MPH is a Planning Specialist at the Center for Public Health and Health Policy. Her work concentrates on designing and conducting policy research, policy analyses and needs assessments. Erin received a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA), a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) and a Bachelor’s in Political Science, each from the University of Connecticut.
Recent projects Erin has worked on include the Health Benefits Review Program for the Connecticut Insurance Department; the Connecticut Health Care Workforce Scan for the CSMS State Innovation Model (SIM) Design planning process coordinated through the CT Department of Social Services; and Oral Health for Low-Income Pregnant Women: Building a System of Care in Connecticut for the CT Health Foundation. Erin was also a key team member in evaluating a food environment project, the Healthy Food Retailer Initiative in Hartford, CT. Her master’s thesis also explored the food environment, examining the impact of federal policy changes to the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Assistance Program’s food package on healthy food availability in Hartford’s corner markets. Erin’s background also includes community nutrition program development, health care advocacy, community organizing, and municipal governance.
