Susan Furbish, RD joined the University of Connecticut’s Husky Programs in 2004 and currently serves as Assistant Director. Susan holds a BA degree in Psychology from Amherst College and is a Registered Dietitian.
In 1999, Susan left the corporate sector to embark on a career change which ultimately landed her in the field of Nutrition and Public Health. As a Registered Dietitian, she is accomplished at program design and implementation, and is committed to promoting healthy eating and physical activity for low resource children, families and older adults. As a former financial services executive she brings strong management, organizational and communication skills to the Center for Public Health and Health Policy.
Susan is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and served as chairperson of the Public Relations committee for the Connecticut chapter of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics from 2009 – 2011. Prior to her full time employment with the Center for Public Health and Health Policy, Susan was a private practice and consulting dietitian providing individual medical nutrition therapy, cooking demonstrations, individual and group nutrition education and corporate wellness programming. Susan also enjoys gardening, cooking and engaging in outdoor activities including hiking, bicycling, and cross-country skiing.
